When I was struggling to build my family, I felt so alone in so many ways, not the least of which was having to travel at least an hour for any type of support group or counseling. I vowed that I would someday change that in my community. It took me a long time to feel ready, but in Fall of 2015 I started a local RESOLVE Peer Led Support Group, and I can honestly say that, along with my writing about infertility and reproductive trauma and some online support I also do, it has been life changing.

I no longer feel alone. There is such relief in speaking with people who get it. I have met people who will be friends for life. I have felt myself continue to heal as I support others. I know I make some moments, on some days, more manageable for others and that sometimes that’s what you piece together to get through. I know that there will be a stronger, more open support community for my children and for ALL of our children who may need it.

I’m so grateful to RESOLVE for being a catalyst for change in my corner of the world. Corners add up. There is so much more to be done, but I am in it for the long haul, and I know we’re making progress. I’m also grateful for ALL of RESOLVE’S information, education, support, and advocacy. It helps more than I can say to feel like we have a collective voice, an organization that has our back, a leader in the fight for personal, social, economic, and political change regarding infertility. I am proud and so grateful to be a part of RESOLVE.

There are lots of ways to be involved. It can feel scary at first, believe me, I know. But if you’re thinking about it, I encourage you to go for it! You’ll be glad you did.
